Stocktake quick checklist (cheat sheet)

Posted

Yes, it's that time of year, STOCKTAKE TIME!!

Before our heads start spinning, and we put it on the '''all too hard' pile, here's some quick tips to get you going

1. In Swim, go to stock menu, stocktake and ensure that you do not have an old stocktake sitting there. If  you do, go to utilities, system, maintenance and clear the stocktake so you can start fresh
2. Aim  to do your stocktake over as short a period as possible. No more than one week is highly recommended. One to two days is preferred.
3. All hands on deck - you can key in to tablets, use scanners and RFID all at the same time. So bring out all the laptops, smart phones, tablets etc and equip your staff with one
4. If using a scanner, have one person scanning and the other looking at the screen. If you come across an anomaly (eg item is sold or isn't in system), deal with it then. This will save time in the long run
5. Designate sections within the store so you know what has been scanned and what has not. Ensure you don't re-arrange stock during the stocktake period
6. At the end of each day  check the listing of items sold report and remove any of these items of the stocktake
7. Do not enter in new stock while stocktaking or transfer between stores
8. Your missing stock page is your friend. Use this extensively for stock and quantity stock.
9. Print all reports or save as PDF to your computer
10. Finish the stocktake to make the changes take effect
